We are honored that Inspector General Levinson will be on the broadcast, RACmonitor publisher and executive producer Chuck Buck said. We expect that the inspector general will be providing insight on the largest healthcare fraud settlement in U.S. history with the governments agreement with GlaxoSmithKline last month, getting the global healthcare giant to plead guilty and pay a record $ 3 billion to resolve fraud allegations.
Buck said he anticipates that Levinson will discuss some of the noteworthy provisions in the settlement, including the clawback provision.
We were very impressed when the inspector general came to our broadcast booth as we were broadcasting live during the HCCA conference in Las Vegas back in April, Buck said. We were impressed with his humanity.
The 30-minute live broadcast of Monitor Monday also will feature an appearance by Duane Abbey, PhD, a consultant, author and educator. Abbey is expected to explain why the recovery auditors have targeted various cardiovascular services on the grounds of medical necessity.
Also on Monday, J. Paul Spencer, the compliance officer for Fi-Med Management, Inc., will be ready to answer listeners questions during the broadcast. Nancy Beckley, president and CEO of Nancy Beckley and Associates, will discuss hot topics, including the recent focus on MS-DRG 470, which has caught the attention of providers recently. Beckley also will conduct the popular Monitor Monday Listener Survey.
Reporting on the latest news on the RACs will be Karen Long, who also will report on recent developments regarding healthcare fraud.
