Climb Real Estate Group, based in the Design Center at the base of Potrero Hill, continued its holiday tradition by giving back to the community in which they live, work, and sell. This innovative residential real estate brokerage makes giving a priority by helping low-income families, children and elderly through volunteer efforts at the San Francisco Food Bank and the collection of unwrapped gifts for Toys for Tots.
On November 29th, the Climb sales agents and marketing staff spent 3 hours packing 2,616 pounds of oats for distribution to the Food Banks pantries and nonprofit partnersthats 7,848 servings of healthy, filling food at a time of year when many families have to choose between buying food and paying winters higher heating costs.
Ive served food to the homeless during Thanksgiving and Christmas, but this was my first time volunteering at the SF Food Bank. It was such a fun day, but the best part was to look up while packing oats to see my fellow Climbers smiling and joking about having a friendly competition of who can pack the most oats. As a team we packed over 2,600 lbs of oats; this will feed more than 7,000 families! said Vi Pavlicevich, a Broker Associate who spearheaded the firm’s Habitat for Humanity service program earlier this summer.
Angela Hamby, also a Broker Associate, added, It was a poignant experience to know that in such a short time our team was able to package so much food for people in need, including children receiving after school snacks, soup kitchens, and the elderly. The food bank provides a vital service for the city and the staff was very kind. In short, it was a wonderful way to spend the day.
The Food Bank depends heavily on volunteer workers like Climb Real Estate Group to feed the hungry in San Francisco and Marin. For more information about the San Francisco Food Banks efforts, and how you can volunteer your time or donate to their efforts, visit their website at SFFoodBank.org.
Climb Real Estate is also a drop off location for the Toys For Tots toy drive this year. Anyone who would like to donate a new, unwrapped gift can visit Climbs office at 251 Rhode Island Street in Potrero Hill during business hours and add it to those already collected by Climbs agents and staff. The last day to donate toys is December 11, 2012, after which the toys will be distributed to children in the community in time for Christmas morning.
Toys for Tots is a charitable organization run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. In addition to the yearly toy drive from October to mid-December, Toys for Tots sponsors golf tournaments, foot races, bicycle races and other events throughout the year. According to their website, the primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
