On Thursday, November 15th, William Joyce and DreamWorks Animation will present the Louisiana Premiere of RISE OF THE GUARDIANS at The Strand Theatre and the grand opening of the exhibition The Making ofGuardians at artspace. The event will begin at 6:30 pm with an introduction of the film by executive producer, William Joyce and production designer, Patrick Hanenberger. Immediately following the premiere, audience members will follow Nicholas St. North in a parade down Louisiana Avenue, under a cascade of confetti to artspace for a first look at the exhibition celebrating the Guardians with a street party complete with live music by Brady Blade & Friends. Tickets to the event are $ 100 each or $ 350 for a group of 4 and can be purchased through The Strand Theatre box office at (318) 226-1481. Proceeds from the ticket sales will benefit artspace, Robinson Film Center and The Strand Theatre.
RISE OF THE GUARDIANS is an epic and magical adventure that tells the story of Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, the Sandman, and Jack Frost legendary characters with previously unknown extraordinary abilities. When an evil spirit known as Pitch lays down the gauntlet to take over the world, the immortal Guardians must join forces to protect the hopes, beliefs and imagination of children everywhere. The Making OfGUARDIANS Exhibition at artspace will look at the evolution of each character from concept to literary interpretation to animation. As artistic director of artspace, William Joyce is able to provide a unique glimpse into the characters from his original illustrations and the translation into animated prints from DreamWorks. All ages will enjoy the 10 weeks of interactive arts related activities that will take place from November 15 January 26. About William Joyce
William Joyce has achieved world-wide recognition as an author, illustrator and pioneer in the digital and animation industry. Named by Newsweek magazine as One of the 100 people to watch in the new millennium,” Joyce has been heavily involved in the world of digital animation from its full-scale inception at Pixar Animation.
