Online apparel firm Pay It Forward recently started a campaign that turns new Facebook likes into t-shirts for children around the world. PIF has committed to donating one new t-shirt for every new Facebook fan that they receive and will continue to offer the promotion until they reach their goal of 200 shirts donated.
The socially responsible t-shirts that are being donated feature the same designs as the shirts that are currently sold on PIFs website which display positive and inspirational messages such as Keep Hope Alive, Be the Change, and Use all your heart, hope, and soul to change the world.
PIF began selling its line of chari-tees in August to help raise money for various causes both in the U.S. and abroad. The company partners with different non-profits to help raise funding and awareness to support causes such as childhood cancer research, HIV and AIDS prevention and treatment, childhood hunger, and environmental support, just to name a few.
This new “like” campaign is being used to increase PIFs social media influence which will in turn allow them to educate more people on how to make a bigger impact through charitable giving. We sell t-shirts, but our real passion is teaching people how their everyday decisions can positively impact world change. states CCA (Chief Change Agent) Matthew Moses.
In a recent video released by PIF, How to make the most out of your holiday giving, Matthew goes into greater detail on the importance of the educational aspect of the company. The CCA explains their top-down approach to charitable giving which encourages people to first support a cause before finding a charity to get involved with. Matthew points out that Some well-known charities use an unreasonable amount of donations for salaries, events, and ineffective marketing, which limits the impact on the actual cause. Pay It Forward protects their customers from these types of non-profits by only partnering with charities that have displayed a track record of good financial stewardship. Their screening process automatically excludes any charity that does not have at least a 3 out of 4 star rating with Charity Navigator, the largest independent non-profit evaluation firm.
25%+ of everything that is sold on the PIF Apparel website is donated directly to one of its charity partners, based on the shoppers selection during the checkout process. Customers also have the option to make additional donations using the round-up feature located in the companies shopping cart. 100% of all round-up dollars are then donated to the appropriate charity partner.
